BBQ combined with charity is Quetopia

Quetopia, Fire on Ice, Faith's LodgeSpringtime in Minnesota is slow to arrive and barbecue lovers look forward to heating up by getting out their grills. Fire on Ice started as an idea by Jeff “Dictator Turcatto” Turcotte in 2007 for everyone to get out there and cook great BBQ, on the ice.  The Fire on Ice BBQ  event is aptly named for its unique location, on the frozen crust of Milles Lac Lake in Onamia, MN.  It was a loosely based contest of “short cook” meats that would later be turned in at a local bar where patrons would act as judges.   Continue reading

Purple VooDoo BBQWhen it comes to great BBQ, most people know what they prefer.  At the Smokin’ Red Dirt BBQ (RDB) contest, the people’s choice award for 2017 went to Purple VooDoo BBQ.  In fact, Purple VooDoo BBQ has garnered this award every year since 2014. House of Q Cooking Classes at ATBBQ #TeamYoder

Our Wichita retailer All Things Barbecue hosts monthly cooking classes in their teaching kitchen. It’s a fantastic set-up with an indoor demo kitchen that features overhead cameras so students can see what the chef’s is doing from all angles and a big outdoor patio with a fleet of smokers and grills to cook on, many of which are Yoder Smokers. ATBBQ’s House Chef Tom Jackson, who creates the recipes for their blog The Sauce leads classes with the help of friends like pitmaster Andy Groneman of Smoke on Wheels BBQ and occasional guest instructors.

About this time last year, we told you about 13 year old Ty Machado taking the Texas BBQ competition world by storm. We’re thrilled to announce that Ty is still cooking and taking great calls all over the Lone Star state, but he’s also about to make his television debut tonight on Food Network’s Kids BBQ Championship! The show features 8 young pitmasters vying for the title and a $20K prize. No big surprise, we’re rooting for Ty! #TeamYoder
