Fabrication Shop Supervisor

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and supervising employees and activities within the fabrication division to ensure an effective and efficient fabrication operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards. Reports to Project Manager.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the fabrication department, ensuring efficient and timely production of fabricated metal products
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and meet production goals
  • Supervise and train fabrication team members, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Monitor quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements
  • Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of orders
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the fabrication process
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols
  • Willingness to step in to help fabricate based on shop workload
  • Manual machining is a plus
  • CNC operating and programing is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in fabrication processes, including MIG and TIG welding of steel and aluminum, press brake machine operation, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and the use of power tools
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting technical drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of mechanical principles
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities to effectively manage a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during fabrication
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in product specifications
  • Ability to use calipers or other measuring tools for precise measurements

Experience:

  • Laser
  • Brake Press
  • Saws
  • Bridgeport experience (helpful)
  • Three or more years of management experience leading a department/area
  • Metal fabrication and/or heavy weld experience
  • MIG welding: 5 years (Preferred)
  • TIG welding: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Management: 5 years (Preferred)
